So You Have Some Questions About Our Certified Organic, Vegan Dark Chocolate Truffles?
What does it mean when you say that Hooray Truffles are certified vegan?
To become vegan certified, businesses are required to submit and have approved by the Vegan Awareness Foundation certain steps and certain standards that must be adhered to. To read more about the certification process that we adhere to please go to www.vegan.org.
How do you sweeten your Dark Chocolate Vegan truffles?
We "fruit sweeten" our truffles using organic medjool dates. We do not use additional sugar of any sort in the creation of our confections.
I have diabetes and watch my sugar intake. Are Hooray Truffles Diabetic Friendly?
Dates are an incredibly nutritious fruit that actually have a glycemic index that is lower than bananas and are not found to increase blood sugar. Dates are also packed with fibre, B vitamins, vitamin K, and vitamin A!
For further information on dates and glycemic index please refer to this article here.
How should I store the Hooray Truffles after purchase?
The fresher chocolates are, the better they taste. This might seem obvious, but it bears repeating: everything chocolate has a higher pinnacle of flavor and texture the fresher it is. For this reason alone, we suggest buying our truffles in amounts you're likely to consume in a short period of time. If however you have the enviable position of having in your possession more truffles than you can eat in a reasonable period of time we suggest you follow these guidelines here that we have put together for you.
What is soy lecithin and why don't you have any in your organic, vegan dark chocolate?
Soy lecithin is an emulsifier used in most chocolate to reduce "bloom" which is the separation of cocoa butter and cacao. When bloom occurs, it will give chocolate an unsightly white discolouration. As it is a soy product it is usually genetically modified and as a phytoestrogen is avoided by many. At Hooray Truffles, we are committed to creating an allergen free product and to that end it just did not make any sense to use a chocolate that contained soy.
Are Hooray Truffles gluten free?
Yes. Our truffles are made in a gluten free environment and none of our ingredients contain gluten.
Does Hooray Truffles offer wholesale pricing?
Can you tell us about the chocolate that you use?
Hooray Truffles’ philosophy is that food can heal your body.
Our life style includes foods that are healthy, clean, organic, green, preservative free, enzyme rich, whole, and nutrient dense.
The chocolate that we use in our truffles is a spectacular reflection of what we believe in in that LaSiembra Cooperative work closely with the cacao bean farmers to ensure that fair-trade and sustainability practices are met and upheld. Organic, fairtrade, soy lecithin and allergen free is our mandate and we work passionately to uphold these standards.
La Siembra Co-operative is based in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Established in 1999, La Siembra Co-operative became the first registered importers of Fairtrade Certified cocoa and sugar in North America and today works with 25 producer co-ops, supporting more than 47,500 family farmers in 14 countries!
We are proud to use chocolate that is produced with such a high degree of morality and care.
In our connections with people on a daily basis it is our pleasure to not only bear witness to the intense pleasure that is had when our truffles are sampled but to also be able to say that the chocolate is not only organic and soy lecithin free, but it is also fairly traded with the welfare of the cocoa farmers as a priority.
